I was drawn to Salus because supportive housing is one of the most powerful tools we have to promote health, dignity, and stability—but it’s often under-recognized, underfunded, and incredibly complex to navigate. I want to help change that. The focus Salus places on meeting clients where they are and on collaborating with partners to best respond to community need resonates deeply with me. I’ve seen firsthand the power of community and what happens when people rally around a shared purpose. I’m honored to be part of a team that rallies around those who need extra support—and to help ensure that something this essential gets the attention, investment, and understanding it deserves.
With over 20 years of experience working, consulting and volunteering within the community mental health and supportive housing sectors, Christa has spent the last 14 years focused on the development, expansion and management of affordable housing—most recently overseeing the development of Ottawa Salus’ Karen’s Place, which won multiple sustainability and innovation awards, was the first Passive House certified multi-residential affordable housing project in North America, and the first in the world in a cold climate using steel frame construction.
Christa has a strong belief that housing is an essential human right and that everyone deserves an affordable place to call home. Christa is fortunate to be able to put that belief into practice everyday as a senior leader of one of the largest supportive housing providers for people with severe and persistent mental illness in Ottawa.

“I believe housing is a fundamental human right—something everyone deserves access to, regardless of circumstance. I’ve had the privilege of working alongside Ottawa Salus over the years and have always admired its unwavering commitment to supportive, inclusive housing and mental health services.
What inspires me most about joining Salus now is its courageous and forward-thinking expansion into substance use health. It takes vision and leadership to evolve with the needs of the community, and Salus continues to rise to that challenge with compassion and integrity. I’m honoured to be part of a team that leads boldly, builds thoughtfully, and always puts people first.”
